IELTS Speaking Questions from China

The IELTS Speaking Test is a part of the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) exam, which assesses your

ability to communicate effectively in English. The speaking test is conducted face-to-face (physically or online) with an examiner

and is divided into three parts.

You will find some question are often repeated world over. So questions asked in China can also be asked (in different words) in tests in

USA, UK, Spain, Germany, France, South Africa or UAE. As long you get them from a reliable source, do practice those questions.

 

Here are some IELTS speaking questions that have been recently reported in China during August 2024:

Part 1: Interview Questions

  1. General Topics:
    • What is your full name?
    • May I see your ID?
    • Where are you from?
    • Do you work or study?
    • Do you often feel bored?
    • What do you do when you feel bored?
  2. Time Management:
    • Do you always avoid being late?
    • Why are people often late for meetings or appointments?
    • Are people in your country often late for meetings?
    • Do you think people are born with time management skills or can they develop them?

Part 2: Cue Card Topics

  1. Describe your favourite place in your house where you can relax:
    • Where it is?
    • What it is like?
    • What you enjoy doing there?
    • Why you feel relaxed in that place?
  2. Describe a person you met at a party and enjoyed a conversation with:
    • Who was the person?
    • What topics did you discuss?
    • How did you feel during the conversation?
  3. Describe a daily routine that you enjoy:
    • What it is?
    • Where and when you do it?
    • Who you do it with?
    • Explain why you enjoy it.

Part 3: Discussion Topics

  1. Relaxation:
    • Why is it difficult for some people to relax?
    • What are the benefits of doing exercise?
    • Do people in your country exercise after work?
    • Do you think there should be classes for training young people and children on how to relax?
  2. Meeting New People:
    • Under what circumstances do you meet new people?
    • Where do people usually go to meet new people?
    • What topics are generally discussed when meeting new acquaintances?
    • Why are some people unwilling to have conversations with strangers?
